Setting Up the Points Engine

The Points Engine lets merchants reward customers with points for selected actions.

Customers can earn points from activities such as purchases, referrals, product reviews, social actions, birthday rewards, and other reward rules depending on what you enable.

Points can help encourage repeat purchases, customer engagement, referrals, and reward activity.

What customers can do with points #

Depending on your settings, customers may be able to:

  • Earn points from eligible purchases
  • Earn points from referrals
  • Earn points from approved product reviews
  • Earn points from approved social actions
  • Earn birthday points
  • View their points balance in My Rewards
  • View points activity
  • Convert points to wallet rewards when conversion is enabled

The exact customer experience depends on your enabled Points settings.

Step 1: Open Points settings #

Inside PrizeSuite, go to:

Wallet → Points

or open the Points area from the Wallet and Modules section.

Step 2: Review the Points settings #

Before enabling Points publicly, review the main settings:

  • Points system status
  • Points earning rules
  • Purchase points
  • Referral points
  • Birthday points
  • Product review points
  • Social action points
  • Points conversion settings
  • Manual review settings where available

Start with a small number of earning rules so the customer experience is easy to test.

Step 3: Enable the Points Engine #

Turn on the Points Engine when you are ready to let customers earn points.

Save the settings after making changes.

Step 4: Configure basic earning rules #

For a first setup, start with simple earning rules such as:

  • Purchase points
  • Referral points
  • Birthday points

You can add product reviews and social actions later after your basic points flow is working.

Step 5: Test points in My Rewards #

Open the storefront My Rewards page as a logged-in customer.

Check that the customer can see:

  • Points balance
  • Points activity
  • Available earning options
  • Pending or completed points activity

Step 6: Review points activity in admin #

Inside PrizeSuite admin, review the Points customer and activity areas.

Use these areas to check:

  • Customer point balances
  • Points ledger or history
  • Pending review items
  • Approved rewards
  • Rejected rewards
  • Manual adjustments, if available

Recommended first setup #

For a new store, use this order:

  1. Set up My Rewards.
  2. Enable Wallet Rewards if you plan to convert points to wallet value.
  3. Enable Points Engine.
  4. Start with purchase points.
  5. Add referral points if needed.
  6. Test as a customer.
  7. Review points activity in admin.
  8. Add reviews, social actions, and birthday rewards later.

Troubleshooting #

If points do not appear on My Rewards:

  1. Confirm the customer is logged in.
  2. Confirm the Points Engine is enabled.
  3. Confirm the earning rule is enabled.
  4. Confirm the customer completed the required action.
  5. Check whether the points are pending review.
  6. Refresh My Rewards.
  7. Review the customer’s points activity in PrizeSuite admin.
