Getting Started → Understanding Giveaway Campaigns #
In PrizeSuite, a giveaway campaign is a promotional event where customers purchase entries (tickets) for a chance to win a prize. Each campaign is built on top of a WooCommerce product and follows a defined lifecycle from creation to winner selection.
Understanding how giveaway campaigns work will help you configure them correctly and run successful promotions on your website.
How Giveaway Campaigns Work #
A typical giveaway campaign follows these steps:
- An administrator creates a giveaway product representing the prize.
- Customers purchase entries (tickets) for the giveaway.
- Each purchase generates unique ticket numbers for the participant.
- Entries are recorded and tracked by the PrizeSuite system.
- When the campaign ends, winners are selected based on the configured rules.
- The winner(s) are announced on the product page and winners page.
Giveaway Campaign Components #
Each campaign includes several key components that define how the giveaway operates.
Prize #
The prize is the item or reward participants have a chance to win. This is usually represented by the WooCommerce product itself, including images and description.
Entry Tickets #
Participants receive one or more ticket numbers when they purchase entries. Each ticket represents a chance to win the prize.
Some campaigns allow users to choose their ticket numbers manually, while others assign tickets automatically.
Entry Price #
The entry price defines how much a participant pays for each ticket. Customers can often purchase multiple entries to increase their chances of winning.
Campaign Duration #
Each giveaway has a start and end date. Participants can enter the campaign only while it is active.
Winner Selection #
When the campaign ends, PrizeSuite selects one or more winning tickets according to the campaign configuration.
The selected ticket numbers determine the winner(s) of the giveaway.
Giveaway Status Lifecycle #
Throughout its lifetime, a giveaway campaign may have several statuses:
- Draft – The campaign is created but not yet published.
- Active – The campaign is running and accepting entries.
- Paused – The campaign is temporarily stopped.
- Ended – The entry period has finished.
- Winners Announced – Winners have been selected and displayed.
- Archived – The campaign is stored as a past giveaway.
These statuses help administrators manage campaigns and inform visitors about the current state of each giveaway.
Where Campaigns Appear #
Giveaway campaigns can appear in multiple locations across your website:
- Giveaway product pages
- Shop or category listings
- Dedicated giveaways pages
- The winners page after the campaign ends
PrizeSuite automatically displays the appropriate information and status based on the campaign stage.
Tips for Successful Campaigns #
- Use clear product images to showcase the prize.
- Write detailed descriptions explaining the rules.
- Set realistic entry limits and campaign durations.
- Promote active giveaways through banners or email campaigns.
Properly configured campaigns help build trust with your audience and increase participation in your giveaways.
